On October 14, 2025, Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10. That means no more technical assistance, no more security patches, and no more feature updates. If your business still has devices running Windows 10 after this date, you’ll be exposed to increased security risks and potential compliance issues.
This isn’t just a routine software update—it’s a major shift that SMBs should prepare for now.
Even after October 14, your Windows 10 computers will keep working. But without ongoing updates, they’ll quickly become vulnerable to malware, ransomware, and other cyber threats. Plus, Microsoft will no longer provide support if something breaks.
Running an unsupported OS also creates problems for productivity apps. For example, Microsoft 365 apps will lose support on Windows 10 after October 14, 2025, and while they may continue running, Microsoft has already warned that performance and reliability could decline.

Upgrade to Windows 11
If your PCs meet the minimum system requirements, you can upgrade for free.
This is the simplest way to stay supported and secure.
Replace Older Devices
If your hardware can’t run Windows 11, it may be more cost-effective to replace it.
Modern devices bring better performance, longer lifespans, and stronger security.
Enroll in Extended Security Updates (ESU)
If you need more time, Microsoft will offer paid ESU coverage for Windows 10—but only for up to one additional year.
This is meant as a temporary bridge, not a long-term solution.
For small and mid-sized businesses, delaying this transition can create serious security and compliance risks. Unsupported operating systems are prime targets for cyberattacks, and breaches can lead to downtime, lost data, and reputational harm.
